This family of 5 with 3 kids under the age of 6 migrated from the city to a Northshore Modern Farm  House in Northbrook, Illinois. The floor plan is open with lots of natural light. Sight lines from the front  door to the living room, kitchen, and family room were maximized. It was important for the client to  have a well decorated space, but they wanted the space to feel comfortable and warm.

The designers created a living room that was a more refined space with modern furniture including  classic Barcelona chairs and funky pillows to make the room feel less formal. They fashioned a family room open to the kitchen and added an overscale free standing console used for toy storage. The shiplap accent wall channeled the modern farmhouse style vibe. The kitchen is located between the two  living spaces and brings harmony to this open space with white cabinetry and warm wood tones. KBS  Interior Design created a cheerful, welcoming, and kid friendly home.
